Pete Evans’s Bio

Pete Evans was born in Melbourne and raised on Australia’s Gold Coast, where he grew up surfing and fishing. After graduating from catering college, Pete became head chef at The Pantry, which opened in Melbourne’s Brighton neighbourhood in 1993.

After successfully establishing that first restaurant, Pete moved to Sydney to help expand the Hugos restaurant group. During his time as the group’s executive chef, Hugos won many awards, including eight ‘Chef’s Hats’ and 21 ‘Best in Australia Awards’.
