- 6 x green cooking apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 3 tspn ground cinnamon
- 250 g raspberries
- 250 g blueberries
- 250 g mixed frozen berries (or blackberries)
- 60 g butter
- 1/2 cup self - raising flour
- 3/4 cups oats
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 x custard or vanilla ice cream to serve (or just eat it on its own!)
Preheat the oven to 200′c.
Add the apples, sugar (you really want to add just enough sugar to reduce the tartness of the berries), cinnamon, 1/2 the raspberries and 1/2 the blueberries to a pie tin, cover with aluminium foil and cook for 30 minutes until everything has softened.
Meanwhile, place the butter and flour in a food processor and process until it resembles chunky breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats and brown sugar and set aside.
One the apples and berries have softened, remove from the oven and add all remaining berries. Give it a good mix (this will give you a nice contrast between stewed berries and just cooked berries).
Top with the crumble mixture, reduce the oven temperature to 180′c and cook for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
Serve with custard, vanilla ice-cream or wash it down with a nice cold beer.

Such an easy, yet effective recipe. Will certainly be giving it a try with my freezer full of fruit!
