- 1/2 cup self - raising flour
- 1 cup suet mix
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup castor sugar
- 1/3 cup cold water
- 2 Tbls cocoa powder (sauce)
- 1 Tbls butter (sauce)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (sauce)
- 1/2 tspn vanilla essence (sauce)
- 1 cup water (sauce)
Sift flour, cocoa and salt into a bowl and stir in sugar and suet mix. Add sufficient cold water to make a stiff dough. Divide mixture into 8 pieces and roll each into a round ball.
Place gently into simmering sauce, cover and cook for 20 minutes.
Place all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to simmer and stir to dissolve sugar.
** Overcooked dumplings will fall apart. Make sure to simmer gently and serve as soon as they are light and fluffy.
Serve with cream or ice-cream.
