- 8 x dried dates
- .5 cup wholemeal rolled oats
- 1 Tbls water
- 1 Tbls coconut oil
- 1 Tbls pure raw cacao powder
In a blender, pulse the dates and oats together for about 30 seconds.
Add the water and coconut oil, followed by the cacao powder and blend for 1 minute.
Form into balls and refrigerate for 30 mins. These will last up to 1 week refrigerated.
NOTE: Gluten free and Oats:
Oats DO contain gluten, but it’s not that simple. Oats naturally contain a type of protein called Avenin (i.e Oat Gluten) that is different to the type of gluten you find in wheat, rye, barley and triticale. According to Coeliac Australia, about 4 in 5 people with Coeliac Disease can still tolerate small quantities of oats (providing they are not contaminated with wheat or other grains) (Oats and the Gluten Free Diet, 2012, Coeliac Australia).
