  • 1 x lemon sized tamarind pulp
  • 1 x large tomato (riped)
  • 1 tspn pepper pwder
  • 4 x garlic cloves
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tspn coriander powder
  • 1 tspn cuminpowder
  • 1 pinch asfoetida
  • 1 tspn mustard seeds
  • 1 tspn cumin seeds
  • 2 x dry red chillies
  • 1/2 bunch coriander leaves
  • 2 tspn oil


1.Soak Tamarind pulp in 2 cups of water for 30 mins
Squeeze the juices from the pulp and discard the pulp.

2.In the same juice squeeze the tomato .(or else use 1 crushed tomato)

3.Chop garlic to thin slices and add it to Juice.

4.Add all the powders and salt according to taste and mix well.

5. boil the mixture in low heat for 20 mins or till it bubbles.

6.Heat oil in pan,add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,asfoetida and dry chilies and fry them till mustard seeds splutter. add this mixture to the juices.

7.Add chopped coriander and serve hot along with rice.

    • sorry it is 1 tea spoon .. ;-)

      will edit it.

      we are not adding any spices and also it is tamarind and tomato juices so one tea spoon is required

  • I’m just imagining dipping some bread into that sauce and scooping out the vegetables with a big spoon! ^_^
