  • 450 g plain flour
  • 70 g caster sugar
  • 1 Tbls instant dry yeast
  • 160 ml warm milk
  • 4 Tbls warm water
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 1 1/2 tspn mixed spice
  • 1 tspn cinnamon powder
  • 300 - 350 g sultanas
  • 50 g unsalted butter
  • 2 x eggs(lightly beaten just with fork) )
  • 1 x extra egg (lightly beaten with fork )
  • 1/2 cup extra plain flour ( for make it the cross )
  • 2 Tbls extra caster sugar ( for make it the cross )
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 20 g extra unsalted butter


1)In bowl mix all dry ingredients,add milk,melted butter,eggs and water and make dough.If need more milk,add milk.Cover and leave at warm spot to doubled.( 1 hour )

2)Transfer the dough on lightly dusted work bench with flour and knead again …..1-2 minutes.Roll long log and cut same size of it and create the bunch.( don’t make them to bigger,because they rise in oven )Grease baking tray,put buns on and leave them to rise again.Brush each with extra egg.

3 )In bowl mix extra flour with sugar and water and make it paste.Put paste into small plastic bag,cut one corner make small hole and create the cross on each bun.Bake in oven on 180 C about 30 minutes or until nice and golden.Still hot,brush them with extra unsalted butter.

  • Hi Snjezana.When I make them first time I put less of sultanas in recipe,but my husband complain,it should be more of it.So I put more of sultanas,but my daughter she want more cinnamon next time.It so hart pleased every one.You can use only half of sultanas.Depends what your family like it.Have a nice day and thank you for your rating.
