Ingredients

  • 1 x chicken breast (cut to cubes)
  • 2 Tbls light soy sauce
  • 3 Tbls five spice powder
  • 1 Tbls shaoxing rice wine
  • 1 tspn pepper powder
  • 1 tspn sugar
  • 1 x egg yolk
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 2 cups oil

Method

Marinate the chicken cubes with light soy sauce,five-spice powder, Shaoxing rice wine, pepper powder, sugar and the egg yolk overnight in the fridge.

When ready to deep-fry, add the chicken cubes to the corn starch and coat evenly.

Heat up a wok with oil and deep fry the chicken until the chicken turn to golden brown.

Transfer the fried chicken on a plate lined with paper towels to soak up the excess oil.
