  • 2 cups sr flour
  • 2 Tbls butter
  • 1/2 cup lard
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1 cup sultanas
  • 1 x pinch salt

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 160 on a fan-forced oven.

In a food processor add the flour, butter, lard and sugar. Beat and add enough milk to form a dough.

Flour the bench and flatten out the dough. Pour the sultanas in the center and to the edges. Fold the edges in to the middle and flatten out again. Repeat this process until the sultanas are all combined. Form a oval shape and place in a cake tin.

Bake for 50 minutes and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with butter.

I used lamb lard which I rendered down myself but feel free to use beef or pork lard. Or alternatively get some copha from the store. But the real thing is the best!

  • That’s where I got the inspiration from but he makes fruit lard bun like things with yeast. I thought I would give it a twist. It’s good! You are very welcome
